The Bible and practical theology group aims to explore all aspects of how the Bible is engaged in practical theology. Everyone with an interest in this interface is welcome. We meet every year at the annual conference usually with a guest speaker. The Bible and practical theology special interest group was formed in 2011 and held its first symposium in 2012 – you can read a report here. We held our second symposium in December 2022 (pictured below) and you can read a report here. Events 2024-25
  • Join us at the University of Roehampton on 18 March 2024 (6-9pm) for a workshop and book launch event in association with the Whitelands Centre for Pentecostalism and Community Engagement. The theme is Pentecostalism and the Pastoral Epistles, based on the recent commentary by Dr John Moxon and Professor William Kay. Further details and booking.
  • At the 2024 BIAPT Annual Conference (2-4 July), we look forward to hearing from the Revd Dr Helen Paynter (pending final confirmation) who will be speaking on the theme of Bible and economic violence.
  • A third symposium is planned for 4-5 December 2025 at Launde Abbey where we will reflect on the legacy and impact of William Tyndale in the 500th anniversary year of the Tyndale New Testament. Guest speakers include Professor Paul Fiddes.
