Doctoral Students

Convenor: Cody Crawshaw

This group provides a forum for students to share their research fields of interest, creating moments of potential interaction and collaboration from other students, as a form of support. There is an annual student day conference where a notable academic will offer input in the morning, and members can offer papers sharing their research and insights in the afternoon.

Get involved

This group is a community open to all doctoral students in BIAPT – whether you are studying part-time or full-time, for a professional doctorate or doctor of philosophy, you are very welcome to get involved. To stay up to date with this group join BIAPT.

If you are on twitter, please do interact with BIAPT. You are also very welcome to contact the doctoral group rep, at docstudrep@biapt.org.

Opportunities for doctoral students in BIAPT include the annual Student Day Conference, the BIAPT Annual conference, and the BIAPT MA Dissertation and Publishable Article prizes.

Join us for the British and Irish Association for Practical Theology’s annual Student Day Conference, taking place online on Friday 26th of April 2024.

About the conference:

BIAPT’s annual student day conference offers the opportunity to share your research, network with fellow students, and have a go at presenting a paper in a supportive and encouraging environment specifically for the student community. The day will feature student work-in-progress papers of twenty minutes, followed by space for discussion and feedback. See below for details on submitting a paper proposal.

We are very pleased to be joined this year by Professor Esther McIntosh, Professor of Feminist Theology and Ethics, and Director of the Centre for Religion in Society at York St. John University. Professor McIntosh will present her current research, and further lead us in a workshop.

The conference is intended to strengthen the postgraduate community within BIAPT, and to provide the chance to explore current and up-and-coming research in the field of practical theology.

This event is open to all postgraduate students – whether you are studying full-time or part-time, for a masters, professional doctorate or PhD, you are very welcome to get involved!

The one-day conference will be held online via Zoom, in order to make it as accessible as possible. The Zoom link will be sent out to participants closer to the date.

For any further information, please contact Cody Crawshaw, the BIAPT doctoral student representative at docstudrep@biapt.org
