This year’s conference is organised around the theme of language, with a focus on how language shapes meaning, interpretation, experience, and practice across scientific, theological, and lived contexts.
Questions of language are central to much practical theology: how experience is narrated, how marginalised voices are heard or silenced, how practices are interpreted, and how particular forms of speech emerge within concrete ecclesial, pastoral, and social contexts.
Although the formal call for papers has now closed, we are keen to encourage engagement from scholars working with practical theological methods, and there is limited flexibility to consider late paper proposals where the connection to the conference theme is clear: https://esssatconference.org/call-for-papers/
Beyond presenting papers, we would also very much welcome BIAPT members, early career researchers, and postgraduate students as participants in the wider conversations the conference is hosting.
