Practical Theology is looking for an Associate Editor

The Practical Theology journal has increased submissions, circulation and reach over recent years such that the trustees of the Contact Pastoral Trust now wish to appoint an Associate Editor, who will make a significant contribution to the continuing development of the journal. The appointment is with the expectation that after approximately two years the person taking up the role will then become the Editor for at least the following three years. This is therefore an appointment for at least five years beginning in Sept/Oct 2021. The first two years will allow the current editor to induct the Associate Editor into the business and tasks of editing and withdraw at the appropriate point.

The Associate Editor will assist the Editor in all the tasks of producing a high-quality and respected international journal. In addition, they will be tasked with further internationalizing the way the journal receives and reviews submissions.

We are looking for an organised, creative and innovative individual who is well-networked, has a post-graduate qualification in theology and is a published author in an international peer-reviewed journal.

Further explanation of the background to the role, the job description, person specification and how to apply are available from the Editor, Nigel Rooms,

Applications deadline: 11th June 2021. Interviews with the current editor and two members of the trustees of the Contact Pastoral Trust will be on 5th July 2021.
